Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) | Cryosense® is a next-generation cryochamber, and the first unit to deliver both cryotherapy and heat in a single unit for a contrasting effect. Clients can also choose to alternate between heat and cold during the same session providing a richer user experience and better results. Likewise, Cryosense is the first and only cryochamber with two different target zones that allow clients to choose greater cold intensity on the upper body or lower body, or keep a consistent level of cold over the whole body.
Spot Specific (SSC) and Facial Focus Cryotherapy (FFC) | °CRYO Penguin is a state-of-the-art unit made by CryoScience offering technology that provides the most advanced Spot Specific and Facial Focus cryogenically based treatments available today.
Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to expose the body to ultra-low temperatures (average -285° F) causing the peripheral tissues to constrict and send blood from the skin surface, muscle tissue, and surrounding joint space to the core to protect core temperature (vasoconstriction). As the blood travels to the core it passes through the cardiovascular system where it is cleansed of toxins and supplied with oxygen, nutrients, and enzymes. As long as the exposure to the extremely cold temperature continues the body continues to flush the tissue of toxins and circulate blood between the cardiovascular system and the vital organs on a continuous loop. This continues to cleanse the blood over and over while continuing to add oxygen, nutrients, and enzymes.
Once you exit the cryochamber, the body immediately begins vasodilation, returning the enriched blood to peripheral tissues that have been cleansed of toxins.
Whole Body Cryotherapy is a cold air session that works by standing inside a cryotherapy chamber for a period of time that lasts a maximum of 3 minutes. Cold air is blown over the body to stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, causing a dramatic peripheral vasoconstriction followed by a dramatic vasodilatation.
The Cryochamber uses gasiform nitrogen to lower the skin surface temperature by 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit over that period of time. The skin reacts to the cold and sends messages to the brain that acts as a stimulant to the regulatory functions of the body, causing a fight or flight response and adrenaline response. The skin exposure to the extreme temperatures also triggers the release of anti-inflammatory molecules and endorphins. The bodies response to cold air from WBC is merely due to the perceived threat that the body is freezing; when, in fact, only the skin temperature is affected. WBC stimulates the sympathetic nervous system via alpha-adrenergic receptors (thermoreceptors), causing dramatic peripheral vasoconstriction. This induces adaptive changes correlating with effects of analgesia (pain relief), reduction of inflammation, and an increase in blood serum markers for tissue repair.
Your Body and Cryo:
REMOVE | During a 2 to 3-minute session at cryogenic temperatures, blood vessels in your skin’s surface and muscle tissue constrict, forcing blood away from your peripheral tissues and toward your core. In the core, the body’s natural filtration system works to remove toxins and inflammatory properties of in the blood.
REPAIR | After exiting the cryochamber, blood flows back to peripheral tissues. Now enriched with oxygen, nutrients, and enzymes, your blood warms the skin and muscles tissue and increases range of motion.
reVIVE | Over the next 48 hours the process of restoration occurs and the body returns to a former and better state or condition. Clients report benefits that include reduced pain and inflammation, increased energy levels, and shorter recovery times from injury or workouts.
Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) is an excellent alternative to cold water immersion or ice packs.
SSC targets specific areas of the body that are inflamed and in pain. Our CryoScience machine is an excellent tool for treating specific areas of the body that are over worked, over used, injured, worn out, have recently undergone surgery, or are inflamed. Cryotherapy combats this response by constricting the blood vessels, thus decreasing inflammation and providing clinically-proven, faster healing.
This type of 'freeze therapy' also increases the release of pain relieving hormones and increases the activity in the cells being treated, which accelerates healing. This makes SSC a great form of treatment for arthritic joints, lower back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, in fact, just about any musculoskeletal condition can be successfully treated using Spot Specific Cryotherapy.
The skin is rapidly cooled, using a beam of vaporized liquid nitrogen, to well below freezing in a matter of minutes using a handheld device and a custom designed software program that isolates the specific area of treatment to degree and time needed for restoration/repair.
This leads to a tightening of the microcirculation blood stream, known as vasoconstriction, and then dilation of blood vessels and capillaries which helps to flush toxins and impurities away from the skin. The process works to contract the skin and accelerate microcirculation which supports better oxygenation of dermal cells, encourages collagen boosting production and helps to detox and rejuvenate the skin.
All Whole Body, Spot Specific and Facial Focus cryotherapy sessions are conducted by a trained and certified CryoUSA technician who remains with you for the duration of your session.
Your first cryotherapy walk-in appointment can take between 15-20 minutes so that we can fully educate you on the process and answer any questions you may have. After the first appointment, sessions typically take 5-7 minutes maximum for WBC or 4-12 minutes for Spot Specific or Facial Focus
